3 Reasons Why I Want a 4-Day Work Week

1. Three Day Weekend

The first is obvious. Weekends are too short to really get anything done and then relax. You're either productive, or you're lazy - not enough time for both. What is the weekend suppose to be? House upkeep, or a break from the daily grind? Both?

2. Increased Work-Day Productivity

Slightly less obvious. Most of my projects lately have been in-and-out, maybe an hour a piece. But when I start the occasional larger task, when 5 o'clock rolls around, I'm generally pretty frustrated. As I'm on salary, I could stay and work, but I won't be compensated for my extra time and effort. Fortunate for my employers, I do decided to suck it up and stay. They allow me a lot of flexibility when I need it, so I try to return the favor when possible.

Plus, sometimes I just don't want to get the project rolling...Keep reading »

How I Thought I Bricked My iPhone: A Tale of Sorrow

It isn't that sorrowful.

I'm generally pretty on top of things when it comes to electronics. Once working, I rarely fiddle with them; I just let them do their thing. We both live in harmony.

Yesterday, I updated my iPhone to the 2.0.2 software. I had my phone on airplane mode. I do this pretty much daily (airplane mode, not updating) to prevent ATT's cellular signal from interfering with my speakers, thus avoiding the ridiculous sound of electronic chimpanzees mating that pours out of my speakers any time my phone thinks of picking up a signal (a cheap fix for that is here, btw)...Keep reading »

Castle Crashers on Xbox Live

I'm sad to hear that Castle Crashers isn't going to be the epic Flash game I originally anticipated. Instead, it's going to be released on Xbox live. Which, as a whole, is probably way cooler. It just means that I can't play it.

It's okay.. I'm still looking forward to the free PC FPS, Battlefield Heroes!

1:35AM

And I can't sleep. Megan works with some major bitches. This shit is none of their business, and holding it over her head only proves why they shouldn't be where they are. Selfish children.

I miss when life was easy. It seems the more I try to simplify things, the more others complicate them. :/

Personalizing iPhone Contacts

My newest venture is to give my dear friends their own, special ringtone. Idiotically, I'm leaving the song up to them - So far, Daryl and opted for Time after Time, and Coleman went with the smooth classic, Easy Lover by Phil Collins.

I need you guys to let me know what you want for your ringtone.

Also, I'm jazzin' up contact images, too. Here are the only two I've made (as they are the only 2 I had decent pictures of at the time): Spencer / Big D

To You Mac Guys

I still love my iPod. I keep it full of my new tunes, and charged up, ready to rock. But I generally listen to my iPhone if I'm in my truck or sharing music.

Josh showed me that he was just putting his recent playlists on there, and that was a great idea. I've built a "mobile" playlist for the time being, and I'm going to get back in the habit of making playlists every week or so. As long as I keep them, it'll be kind of like a documentation of what I was up to at that time. Sweet stuff, thanks Josh.

One question I do have, though: Is there any way to build an auto-refreshing smart playlist? I've built a smart playlist that has a handful of filters, mostly on filesize, and then I use it to build basically a random list of songs which I transfer over to my iPhone. That's just for when I want to listen to something that isn't on my pre-built playlists. The only problem is, whenever I want to "refresh" this "random" list, I have to remove the playlist and recreate it. Editing the filters only changes the amount of songs, adding or removing a few, but everything left stays the same.

Any thoughts on this, Jo- er, Mac guys? :)

Update: I built a smart playlist, limited to 50 songs, comprised of songs that I haven't played in the last month...Keep reading »
